About Australia
Australia is a country of striking contrasts—ancient landscapes, vibrant cities, and a deep cultural heritage. In the Jack Hills of Western Australia, scientists discovered rocks over 4 billion years old, making them among the oldest on Earth. The country’s Indigenous cultures are incredibly diverse, with more than 250 languages once spoken; many of which are now being brought back through community-led efforts and technology.
Though it’s one of the largest countries in the world, most Australians live near the coastline, while the vast, arid interior, called the Outback, remains largely uninhabited. Australia's major cities are often ranked among the most livable globally, praised for their natural beauty, diversity, and relaxed lifestyle.
